Did you know that cancer cells cannot exist in a high pH and oxygen-rich environment? Learn more about an alkaline diet.

Let's go over some pH basic background before getting into how to maintain a neutral (7.0) or slightly alkaline (7.4) pH blood reading for optimum health.

The term pH literally means power Hydrogen. It's a measurement of the concentration of hydrogen ions. Each number of the pH scale represents a ten-fold difference in that concentration. Your alkaline buffer system has to work hard to neutralize overall acidity.

How Our Minds Can Reprogram Our Genes

How much control do we have over our own lives? Are we really controlled by our genes, trapped in our own selfishness, like some modern authors want us to believe? Just how much power do we have to shape our lives and those of others?

Contrary to what many people are being led to believe, a lot of the emphasis placed on genes determining human behaviour is nothing but theory and doctrine. The “selfish gene” model is an assumption, it is not a scientific fact.

Easy Ways to Burn More Fat

Improve your flab-burning metabolic rate and start losing weight fast

Drink Cold Water

German researchers found that drinking 6 cups of cold water a day (that's 48 ounces) can raise resting metabolism by about 50 calories daily—enough to shed 5 pounds in a year, with essentially zero additional effort. The increase may come from the work it takes to heat the water to body temperature.

Forget Filling Cavities: Regrow Your Teeth Instead

If you've got a cavity, maybe you want to try re-growing your own teeth before heading for a filling. Our bodies are constantly renewing themselves and although it isn't commonly known, we can re-grow our teeth too. In fact, re-growing our teeth is highly preferable to having them filled because most fillings these days either contain mercury (a known toxin that damages the brain and nervous system) or are estrogenic (white fillings release estrogen and contribute to hormonal problems.)

Besides, re-growing your teeth is simple. You'll just need two things: comfrey root and organic eggshells. Eggshells are used because they contain 27 minerals and loads of calcium, so they contain the ideal building materials to re-grow your teeth. In fact, the composition of eggshells is very similar to the composition of our teeth and bones. Comfrey root is used because it accelerates bone, teeth and tissue growth. In fact, another name for comfrey root is knitbone, primarily because of its ability to knit - or re-grow - bone together so quickly.

When you're re-growing your teeth, aim to eat one organic eggshell each day. Blending your shells into fresh fruit smoothies is a great way to consume them because blending breaks them into tiny particles that are easily consumed. Smoothies with bananas are ideal because the banana will keep the shell particles suspended instead of allowing them to sink to the bottom of your glass. After cracking the egg, just boil your shells in water for five minutes to kill any pathogens before use.
While you're re-mineralizing and adding plenty of calcium to your body with eggshells, you'll also want to use comfrey root on your teeth and gums. Either fresh or dried comfrey root will do the trick, but if it's dried, boil the root lightly for ten minutes to rehydrate it. Then, blend a square inch of the root with a few tablespoons of water to make a liquid - and swish the liquid in your mouth and between your teeth for about 20 minutes. When you're finished, just spit it out.

Using comfrey in this manner is best done once a day, and you'll likely see progress within a few weeks. Many cavities can be completely re-grown within a month or two with regular use. The best part is: you can heal your teeth without leaving toxic metals or hormone disruptors in your mouth for the rest of your life.

As a note, comfrey root can be a little hard on your liver so if you have liver problems, you'll want to avoid using comfrey. After your teeth have re-grown, you'll also want to end the use of comfrey so as not to overdo it.

Useful Lemon

Lemons – a fruit with a wonderful fragrance, great in food and beverages, but also very handy for multiple purposes around the home!
Lemons have been cultivated by humans for over a thousand years. The fruit is mentioned in tenth century Arabic literature, but was probably first grown in Assam, India.
Lemons are high in vitamin C, have an anti-bacterial effect and are thought to possess antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties. The juice consists of about 5% acid, which also makes them useful for a variety of household purposes. Lemons and/or lemon juice are a popular addition in environmentally friendly cleaning applications.

Uses for olive oil

Our use of olive oil dates back prior to 3500 BC and today over three quarters of a billion olive trees are cultivated around the world. One of the amazing things about olive trees are the conditions in which they can grow. While originating from the Mediterranean, there are thriving olive industries in many countries, including Australia, and I've seen them thrive in some very harsh conditions over here.

Olive oil grades

In case you've ever wondered about the various olive oil grades, here are a few of the common ones:

What are the Symptoms of Healthiness and Healing?

Heathicine is the study of health and healthiness. The diagram below shows the gradient of healthiness, to unhealthiness, to illness. Healthiness drops due to deficiencies or excesses, and all illness is caused by deficiencies or excesses. Your healthiness is complex and multi-dimensional. Each layer in your hierarchy of healthiness (genetics, nutrients, cells, tissues, organs, systems, body, mind, spirit and community) can change and move, suddenly or over time, up or down the scale. So can individual health components. The healthiness of your liver, your pancreas, your circulatory system, your spirit health, etc. is changing all of the time, moving up and down the gradient, becoming healthier, unhealthier and sometimes ill.

Hierarchy of Health - Primary and Secondary Disciplines

Health is defined as: “the combined state of physical, mental and social well being”

The primary disciplines of health can be derived in a hierarchical fashion from the foundations of life.

Genetics is the foundation of health. Health begins with genetics, as does life. There is no genetically perfect human - by design. Genetics must vary the elements in development of life to guard against toxins, viruses, bacteria, and other real and potential stressors.

Nutrition is the next layer in the hierarchy of health. Genetics require appropriate nutrients to develop in the first place. The continued development of life requires many nutrients. As life becomes more complex - human life is very complex - nutrition also becomes more complex.

Sugar Detox

Sugar Detox

If it’s impossible to slim down despite your best efforts, your problem may be fructose. This simple sugar occurs naturally in fruits, sweet vegetables, and honey, but is also added as high fructose corn syrup to most baked goods, drinks, sauces, and prepackaged foods.
Recent studies have found that fructose very quickly turns into body fat, in some cases never even yielding energy for the body to use, says Richard Johnson, author of The Sugar Fix (Rodale, 2008). Fructose also puts a damper on a hormone called leptin, which signals our brain that we’re satiated and it’s time to stop eating. To end your own sugar fix and lose weight, follow this plan from Johnson:

Your Immune system YOUR ARMY

Your Immune System is your Defence Force, your system that keeps out invaders, captures the ones that get through the barriers that have been set up and kills and destroys them. It also uses our waste removal systems to optimally rid the body of battle debris after the battle is won, to leave it clean and pure to continue its life-sustaining functioning. If we could just look to nature, in its perfection, at species and ecosystems that control their own environment for eons under the most extreme conditions and bombardment of forces, we can find the answers. Like lowly ants, we must believe that we are created with the most advanced Defence System that is designed to tackle almost any attack, given the correct functioning of each part and the support of these contingency plans and not their opposition.

5 Things to Boost Your Energy in the Morning

Many of us who live in a world that requires us to work long days and/or stay up to the wee hours of the night tends to, over time, take its toll on our health. By not getting enough sleep or exercise, eating the proper foods, or over stimulating ourselves oncoffee, we are asking for trouble down the road. Many of us believe that being "tired" is a normal way of life and drinking 4 cups of coffee is just fine because everyone else seems to be doing it. Most of us carry-on  without even questioning our routines. We have been so programmed into what "society" has been telling us that it becomes part of our daily reality. The good news however is that we are all capable of overcoming any situation, thereby "choosing" the reality in which to live that excites us the most. Unfortunately, many of us still "choose" to follow the "norm" and as a result suffer from boredom and unhappiness. The reality is that we all have the capability of choosing the way in which we want to live that is conducive to our own objectives (taking into consideration the benefit to the whole) which will propel us into a more fulfilling and happier life. In an effort to guide you through this path, we have listed a few things that we do in the morning to kick start our day.

How to Develop Sexual and Romantic Attraction to People Who Are Good for You

We can’t force our sexual attractions. Most of us have learned that the hard way.

Yet, there’s something profound that most of us have never been taught: Although sexual attractions can’t be controlled, they can be educated. This post will teach some ways to cultivate sexual and romantic attraction to people who are kind, respectful and available. Even if you’re relentlessly attracted to bad-boys or bad-girls, or to unavailable people, you can still develop this capacity!

These suggestions are not gimmicks, they are the lifelong skills of romance and intimacy—the very same skills you will use to keep passion alive in your next serious relationship. .

The Three Steps That Lead to Love

An important message for every single person: The way we search for love usually determines the kind of love we find. Popular culture assails us with romanticized images of love, and then encourages us to play dehumanizing games in order to find it. The steps I describe in this post will not only lead you toward real love; they will also enrich your entire life, because they are the skills of true intimacy.

Go Where You're Likely To Find Generous, Giving People

Forgive me for starting off with the hardest one of all. Going to events filled with strangers is an awkward thing to do. It's immeasurably harder than surfing the web in your comfy T-shirt. Believe me, I know. I spent decades trying to avoid this step. But if you really want a good relationship, take my advice: Get out of the house—and don't make a bar your first choice. If you're looking for the person who will become "home" for you, start by looking in the best places.

Calm Down

After a harried afternoon at the office or a tense argument with your partner, you may not feel especially motivated to exercise. But researchers are discovering that a workout is one of the most potent antidotes to stress. "Any exercise that gets your heart rate up helps lower levels of the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol," says Mark Liponis, M.D., corporate medical director of Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Mass.

Bone Health – 10 Steps to Bone Health

Bones are living tissue.  As with anything else in the body, bone health must be understood at the cellular level.  Cells need to be removed, repaired, and rebuilt on a daily basis.  Bone drugs stop this from happening, causing your bones to be brittle and shatter easily.  We have weak bones in America because of acidic bodies, NOT from lack of calcium.  The fact we must consume dairy for calcium is a complete myth perpetuated by big business.  In fact, dairy is the last food you should be consuming for bone health.  The advertising (and most doctors) out there tells you to take calcium supplements!  DO NOT, unless they are from natural plant sources (most are from rock, chalk, limestone, coral).  It will cause you to rapidly calcify and deteriorate and is completely unnecessary.  Here is a list of ten steps to strong, healthy bones!

Beauty – How Toxic is Your Bathroom?

Be warned: your daily beauty regime could be taking years off your life.

Pat Thomas reports on the chemical timebomb in your cosmetics cabinet.

Earlier this year, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did something amazing.  It issued an unprecedented warning to the cosmetics industry that it was time to inform consumers that most personal care products have not been safety tested.

How To Treat Wrinkles Around Mouth

Aging is a natural process. As we reach a certain age, our skin loses its natural elasticity and the skin starts to develop wrinkles. Usually wrinkles develop at the mouth area. Wrinkles can make one look five or ten years older. Aside from aging, other possible causes of wrinkles are excessive sun exposure and limited facial expression. In addition, the most common causes of wrinkles around the mouth area are cigarette smoking, excessive use of straw when drinking and puckering up your lips.

51 Amazing Uses for Baking Soda

I don’t mean to sound seditious here, but I have a rebellious plan to combat the ills that many corporations are perpetrating in the name of fighting grime and germs. My main gripe is about the environmental pollutants from cleaning and personal care products that we wash down our drains and into our water systems, resulting in situations like the chemical triclosan (a pesticide added to many products as an antibacterial agent) being found in dolphins.

The growing list of dangerous ingredients

Your dressing table or bathroom cabinet could be one of the most dangerous corners of your home!  Lurking within these areas, where perhaps all of your favourite beauty products are kept, is a complete stockpile of toxicity.

The growing list of dangerous ingredients that manufacturers add to their products is turning the most 'innocent-looking' shampoos, moisturisers and so-called ‘skin nourishing’ products into cocktails of toxins that build up to cause cancer or reproductive damage over years of sustained use.  Modern cosmetics and make-up also contain a host of toxic ingredients, which would be more at home in a test tube than in our bodies!  Some of the worst offenders are often the most expensive skin care products.

The Secret to Health

I am really excited to share with you my conclusions from years of research. I just revealed one of the most overlooked and suppressed health secrets in the world (at the International Conference on Science and Consciousness in Santa Fe, New Mexico) to a packed house of international scientists and natural healthcare practitioners as well as medical doctors.
Tragically, this information has been withheld from the general public and has not been included as a part of standard medical training. After fifteen years of research, I have finally pieced everything together and I am positive I have found the key to preventing disease and healing the body naturally.

Take two Music Lessons in the Golden Years

As Americans get older, healthcare becomes more challenging. It's a fact that due to recent advances in medicine, people are living longer. The challenging issue however, is that our nation's elderly are not living healthier.
Simply stated, longevity does not equate with quality of life.

Five Myths of Aging

If you were an alien visiting our planet, you might think Earthlings never age. Even as awareness about aging rises, most major magazines and television stations still fail to display vital, older people. Medical journals, on the other hand, harp on the infirmities of old age. It's no wonder we fear and even deny our own inevitable aging.
Grower older can't be avoided, but it doesn't have to mean the loss of health, mind and independence. In fact, research seems to indicate the opposite. By paying a little attention to lifestyle, most older individuals can live active, healthy lives and we can all shatter those old age myths.

Optimism and longevity

It's time to emerge from the doldrums.
In fact, you don't have any time to waste - especially if you want to add quality years to your life. Mayo Clinic researchers finally gave us the proof we need to kick our negative friends and loved-ones where it hurts the most - right in the attitude!

The Health Benefits of Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper comes from red, hot chilli peppers. It is also known as the African red pepper, American red pepper, Spanish pepper, bird pepper, or Guinea pepper. It's a perennial plant that grows up to three feet. The plant is covered with bright crimson colored fruits (also known as berries) that, when fresh, contain plump white seeds.
To make cayenne powder, the peppers or fruit are dried and ground, or pulped and baked into cakes, which are then finely ground and then sifted to make the powdered spice.

Epidemiological data complied from 164 countries by the World Health Organization (WHO) and from BHF Heart Stats reveal something quite stunning: people with the lowest total cholesterol levels have the HIGHEST levels of mortality from all causes. Conversely, total cholesterol levels between 200-240 is associated with the LOWEST levels of mortality from all causes. People with the LOWEST total cholesterol also have the highest levels of infectious and parasitic diseases. Those with total cholesterol greater than 200 have very low levels of infection.

Becoming an Optimist

Becoming an Optimist

How to turn away from the dark side.

I have always been a bit of a pessimist.  I generally expected the worst and and didn’t trust it when something good happened. In my early twenties I met two people who changed my life, both of whom were optimists.  These people wore rose-colored glasses, saw hope and promise in every situation, and seemed to generally feel happy. Given my negative nature, I immediately saw the flaws in this approach to life: they will be disappointed and hurt frequently and they will overlook their own mistakes. But in time, I grew to respect them and envy their sunny and positive approach towards life. I wished I could be like that but I didn’t know how to become that way.

The Miracle of Cell Regeneration

Every moment your body is undergoing an active process of regeneration, based as it is on the ceaseless flux of cell life and death -- not unlike the dissipative structure of a flame.

Consider the fact that every two days the enterocytes lining your intestines are completely replaced, and that within 100 days, almost every atom and molecule within your body has been excreted, breathed out, or sloughed off, only to be replaced by new ones from the food you ate, the water you drank and the air you breathed in, in the interim.

Reverse Diabetic Toxicity

Reverse Diabetic Toxicity

Diabetes is commonly a condition of toxicity. Proper education of exercise, nutrition, and monitoring of blood glucose levels is crucial in not only the prevention, but also the reversal of diabetes. Diabetes is a condition that can be managed naturally.  Management will reduce the associated healthcare costs and promote longevity.  Chiropractic, exercise and nutrition have been shown to reduce the amounts of insulin required for our bodies.

Treat Your Liver with Love: Improve Your Energy, Memory and More

The liver is one of the largest, busiest, most important organs in the body. People generally give little thought to liver health... and that’s a mistake.
Poor liver function can lead to a wide range of physical and mental health problems—from allergies and bad breath to bloating and chronic fatigue, food sensitivities, memory problems and migraines, to name just a few.
In naturopathic circles, we have a saying, "If you aren’t sure what a patient needs, treat the liver." This approach is in step with the great healing practices of old, including Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine, which emphasize the importance of a healthy liver for optimal wellness. Here are steps you can take to protect, detoxify and heal your liver—and the dangerous "treatments" some misguided people try that actually do more harm than good.

Roughly one-quarter of the blood in the body flows through the liver every minute. Oxygen-rich blood is delivered directly from the heart... and nutrient-rich blood travels nonstop from the intestines. Liver cells called hepatocytes handle more tasks than any other cells in the body. They also contain high concentrations of mitochondria, the energy-producing parts of the cells. The liver affects numerous bodily functions...
Digestion. Before the small intestine can absorb fats—including fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K—the fats must be emulsified (suspended in fluid). To do that, the liver produces up to 27 ounces a day of the digestive fluid bile. Some bile goes directly to the small intestine to meet immediate needs, and the rest is stored in the gall bladder.

The Best Foods for a Good Night's Sleep

What you eat can drastically affect how you sleep, so in order to get a good night’s rest, it is essential to choose foods that calm your mind and body rather than those that stimulate you. Certain types of foods will naturally promote rest and relaxation, particularly those that contain tryptophan – the amino acid that the body uses to make serotonin, the neurotransmitter that slows nerve activity within your brain.

Do you want smoother, healthier, more youthful looking skin?

Most people will answer "yes" to that question. If you answered "yes", you have come to the right place.
Here on this page you will learn the necessary steps for protecting or improving the skin you're in. Do you want smoother, healthier, more youthful looking skin?

What To Look For During An Antiaging Diet

Suat Eman/
If you're looking for an anti aging diet, don't use the phrase, "you are what you eat" too literally. Filling you plate with Twinkies won't permit you to stay alive 1,000 years as claimed that the snack food does. Instead, look to meals that are fresher, less process and contain many of the plant phytonutrients scientists now know play an important role in remaining healthy, fit and yes, younger in appearance. Always keep in mind that getting older is far better than the alternative, but growing older and not showing your real age is heavenly.

100% natural Anti-Aging Skincare Merits and Formulas

Skin care is multi-million dollar business. A huge selection of innovative natural skin care solutions flood the market on an annual basis produced by local as well as international brands. Finding out which specific treatment to use can certainly be challenging. You do not need to jeopardize your skin or overall health simply by rubbing solutions that contain detrimental chemical substances. There's a requirement to know your whole body and just what it can handle to find the most appropriate one. An easier and less risky alternative could be to go with natural anti-aging skin care products and solutions as an alternative.
